KOM Mechanical Whipstock

Application

KOM whipstock is used to deflect mill / reamer to initiate KOP (kick-off point) in cased hole and to drill a few feet of rathole to establish sidetrack and to subsequently deploy tailpipe.

Design

The whipstock doesn’t require to be set on bottom. No depth and temperature limitation. The whipstock is run in conjunction with FSO window-starting mill and FA watermelon mill. It permits single trip sidetracking (tripping in, setting, window milling in casing) without the uncertainty associated with setting a conventional cement plug.
